Overcome my inner slacker was my motto. With this book and the detailed training plans, I was able to do just that. Many thanks to the author, Thomas Bauer. I’m running again. Maxi
This book not only contains challenging training plans (each lasting 8 to 12 weeks, with at least 12 different target times per distance as listed on the title page), but also offers helpful tips for beginners and advanced runners. A chapter on strength training rounds out the book. It’s likely to be worth its weight in gold in the medium and long term if you stick to it with (at least some degree of) discipline.

Lots of training plans and excellent explanations. I definitely don’t regret buying it.
Easy to understand even for beginners. Very motivating thanks to precise guidance on what’s realistically achievable.
The book met my expectations.
A great training book that I’d recommend to anyone-top-notch??
By far the best training book for runners. Very well organized, with plans for all skill levels and excellent explanations. I ran three personal bests with it last year.
As a running coach, this is a handy book of training plan frameworks that can be tailored to individual runners. It covers the full range of running abilities and also includes helpful tips and links for supplemental training.
I’ve had a bad cold lately, but the book is great.
A very comprehensive book-there’s a suitable training plan for every distance and every fitness level. The plans are written in a way that’s easy to understand, seem feasible to me (though I can’t speak for every fitness level), and are backed up by well-explained background information. The tips on structuring your training are also helpful. I especially liked the fine gradation of performance levels based on times run at other distances, which allows you to pick the training plan that’s right for you. The training plans aren’t truly personalized yet, but if you want or need to prepare for a race without a coach, this book is a great resource.
Great running book! Written in a simple and easy-to-understand way.
Very well done and straightforward. Super easy to understand.
A really nice and helpful book. I especially like the numerous training plans for a wide variety of distances and target times. I find the prerequisites a runner must meet to achieve their running goal particularly noteworthy. I’ll definitely follow one or two of these training plans to reach the running goal I’ve set for myself.
Okay
Very good explanations and plans.
Very good plans.
Exactly what I expected. The training plans are clearly and thoroughly described.
Very well done. bravo!
Overall, I’m satisfied. It would be nice to receive a notification that the package has been shipped-that way, you’d at least know it’s on its way and hasn’t gone missing-especially when shipping to a country where customs can cause delays.
Many interesting training plans
Great book. Offers very comprehensive training plans.
Very high-quality book with good training plans
Not 5 stars because almost all the plans are designed for 4 days. That’s a real shame.
Fast delivery. Great structure of the training plans.
The variety of plans makes it possible to constantly find new challenges while also offering a long-term perspective for your own training. A major plus for me, aside from the plans themselves, is the explanation of all the important training terms-which helps you understand and apply the plans correctly. I find the quality of the plans to be outstanding. They’re well thought out, realistic, and-based on my experience so far-grounded in proven training methods. I especially like that the book focuses not only on the athletic aspect but also on long-term motivation. As my performance improves, I can easily move on to the next, more challenging plan. My current goal is to run a half-marathon in under 1:30. If I achieve that with this book, I can aim for 1:25 in my next training cycle. Overall, this running guide is a comprehensive and well-thought-out resource. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to train in a structured and goal-oriented way.
I started the 10-km training program today and am beginning with the beginner’s program for now. In the open slots, I’m incorporating the 5-km beginner’s training program.
Shipping could have been a little faster (received 7 days after ordering), but otherwise my first impression is very positive. The book is organized very clearly, and all the terminology is well explained. The training plans seem well thought out and very structured. I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to reach my goal this fall with this program.
Thank you for addressing the request to include strength training as well. I think it’s a great improvement over the ebook from back then.
I already had the e-book from HDsports, and of course I’m treating myself to the hardcover version now. The training plans are definitely high-quality and effective. I was first able to improve my 10-kilometer personal best and then also improve my half-marathon time. I also liked that all the relevant terminology was clearly explained, making it easy for even inexperienced runners to understand.
